Just when you think you think you know who your children are, they surprise you. It’s easy to fall into the trap of labeling two different siblings (even if you’ve read Siblings Without Rivalry).
Too often, we pigeonhole our kids: A. is the artist, C. is the athlete. A. is imaginative, C. is physical. A. loves to read, write, draw, and paint; C. loves to run, climb, jump, and be swung upside down by her ankles.
But then C. sits still for 5 minutes, absorbed in Mother Goose.
And A. starts racing through swirling autumn leaves, her arms spread wide. ”I’m flying!” she screams. And her feet leave the ground.

Jump into October
