Thanksgiving Unplugged

I forgot my laptop and my digital camera this Thanksgiving.  What sweet relief.

We managed to bring both girls, the dog, our bags, a pumpkin-rum pie and a cranberry-raisin pie.

A. and C. ate Grannie’s chocolate-chip cookies for snack, Redi-Whip (without pie) for the Thanksgiving feast, and vanilla ice cream cones for dessert.  Then they ran naked as wild banshees through Grannie and Pop’s house, a swathe of toys and markers in their wake.

No one slept much that night, but it was worth it.  No one got sick or threw a tantrum or broke any antiques.

Like my father, I love Thanksgiving.  I’m filled with gratitude for the chance to pause, together, away from our busy lives.  May there be more time together soon.
